Erik De Greef has discovered the perfect harmony between purpose and passion. By day, he works as an activity coordinator at a day center in Tremelo, supporting people with disabilities.

"Working with people with disabilities requires a lot of patience," Erik reflects, "and to keep that balance with my work in equilibrium, ceramics is an ideal outlet."

In recent years, Erik has intensified his clay workshops, finding deep satisfaction in watching his students grow and flourish as they work with the material. Yet ceramics is far from predictable—weeks of careful work can be undone in the firing process, and there's never a 100% guarantee of success.

"Werken met mensen met een beperking vraagt veel geduld," zegt Erik, "en om die balans met mijn werk in evenwicht te houden, is keramiek een ideale uitlaatklep."

De voorbije jaren heeft Erik zijn kleiworkshops verder uitgebouwd. Hij haalt diepe voldoening uit het zien groeien en bloeien van zijn cursisten terwijl ze met het materiaal aan de slag gaan. Toch is keramiek allesbehalve voorspelbaar — weken werk kunnen verloren gaan tijdens het bakproces, en een succesvolle afloop is nooit helemaal gegarandeerd.

Pourtant, la céramique est tout sauf prévisible — des semaines de travail peuvent être perdues pendant le processus de cuisson, et un résultat réussi n'est jamais totalement garanti.
